About Caroline
“Something happens to the way I see when I’m in a woodland. I see things differently – shapes, colours, light. It is where I’m at my happiest, clear to think and feel. That’s what it’s like when I’m making my work, there’s a focus and purpose and also a sense of great connection. Sometimes the work pours out and I can lose all sense of time.”
Caroline paints and draws woods in her local area, including Trent Park, Epping Forest and the Gobions Wood. She loves being in the woods and capturing the beauty of nature. Her paintings and drawings are more than just representations of trees; they are expressions of a moment in time; a pathway to light, and an exploration of the intricacies and textures found in nature. Caroline’s work describes a peaceful, yet uplifting atmosphere that invites viewers to breathe deeply and feel the space around them, as a form of escapism, cocooned by nature.
She is a member of the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (with whom she volunteers) and the Woodland Trust.
Caroline is a full-time practising artist and a member of the Studio Fridays group. She has a background in education and worked as a teacher for 32 years.
So far this year she has exhibited and sold at the Mall Galleries with the Pastel Society and the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
